Break Off: The cause and prevention of violence for combat veterans (eBook)

£2.99

The ‘Break Off’ programme depicts how combat veterans are deliberately indoctrinated into a role of pure violence prior to their service in conflicts, otherwise known as ‘upped’ training. However, while this may be essential before service in conflicts, it is equally vital that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) also implement ‘post’ conflict de-programming of these combat veterans. Otherwise, leaving them to cope alone on their return back to normal peacetime surroundings is a recipe for disaster. This is because they are being left with a hidden tool of violence firmly established in their minds (without their knowledge), and something which will not miraculously disappear with age.

Therefore, I recommend the ‘Break Off’ programme as something that will work, as it is based on a military drill which veterans will never forget. I believe it will be a crucial help in the understanding of why so many combat veterans have ended up on the wrong side of the law over the past five decades, so that this ongoing tragedy can at last be fully addressed and turned around, and thankfully prevented after any future conflicts.
